The place has this relaxed, authentic Bahamian vibe that feels worlds away from the typical resort scene, and I mean that in the best possible way.

The Setting

Governorʼs Harbour sits right on Eleuthera Island, and if you’ve never been to this part of the Bahamas, you’re missing out on something special. The town itself is pretty small — you can walk from one end to the other in about fifteen minutes — but that’s exactly what makes it charming. The parking situation here is actually fantastic since they offer free private spots right on site, which honestly saved me from worrying about where to leave the rental car. You’ll find yourself just a short stroll from some incredible pink sand beaches, and the locals at the nearby shops and cafes are genuinely friendly, not just putting on the tourist show.

The Accommodation

My room was comfortable without being fancy — think clean lines, local artwork, and that perfect balance of air conditioning and natural breezes through well-placed windows. The bed was solid (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s something to be said for waking up to actual birdsong instead of traffic noise. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep things authentic while still hitting all the comfort marks you’d want from a four-star place.
