Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Graycliff Hotel on West Hill Street, you immediately sense you’re stepping into something special. This five-star property has old-world elegance that feels authentic rather than manufactured — it’s like discovering a well-kept secret right in the heart of Nassau. The colonial architecture draws you in, and there’s a sense of history that permeates everything from the moment you arrive. The building itself tells stories of centuries past, with carefully preserved details that transport guests to another era. The grand entrance welcomes visitors with its impressive stonework and ornate details that speak to the property’s distinguished heritage.
The Heart of Nassau
The location here is phenomenal in the most practical sense. You’re positioned perfectly to explore Nassau’s historic district without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strips. Couples especially appreciate this — they consistently rate the location highly because you can walk to the main attractions, yet retreat to something that feels genuinely sophisticated. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s driven around Nassau will tell you is no small thing. The neighborhood offers the perfect balance of accessibility and tranquility, with charming local shops and cafes just steps away from the hotel’s entrance.
Luxury That Feels Personal
The room I stayed in had a perfect balance of luxury and comfort that doesn’t feel stuffy or overdone. The attention to details that actually matter struck me immediately — quality linens, thoughtful lighting, and space that breathes rather than cramming in unnecessary amenities. The service feels personal rather than scripted, which is increasingly rare at this level. There’s genuine warmth here that makes the luxury feel earned rather than expected. Every element has been thoughtfully curated for guest comfort, from the carefully selected artwork to the premium bath amenities that enhance the overall experience.
Culinary Excellence
The restaurant deserves its own conversation entirely. I went in with high expectations given the hotel’s reputation, and they actually exceeded them. The wine cellar is legendary — wine enthusiasts make pilgrimages here — but what impressed me more was how the dining experience felt intimate rather than showy. The menu showcases both international sophistication and local Bahamian flavors without trying too hard to be fusion-focused. Each dish reflects careful preparation and respect for ingredients, with presentations that delight both the eye and palate in memorable ways.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Graycliff apart is this rare combination of genuine luxury and authentic character. You’re not staying at some cookie-cutter resort — this place has personality and history that you can actually feel. The staff knows the property inside and out, the location gives you the best of Nassau without the tourist trap feeling, and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about the whole experience that feels natural rather than manufactured. The property creates memories that last long after departure, with exceptional service standards that consistently exceed guest expectations throughout every stay.

Guest Reviews
Steeped in history, the hotel is an oasis of calm amongst the bustling streets of Nassau. The restaurant and lounge is sophisticated and cool particularly if the pianist is playing. The suites are spacious and comfortable and the outside area is shady by the mosaic pool. The wine choice is exceptional. They have more than 290000 bottles of wine including the oldest known drinkable bottle for sale for $200,000. The owner can tell a tale or two about some of the legends who have stayed there in the past including Paul Newman, Bill Clinton Jay Z and Beyonze, Maria Carey and so on. Legend has it that the famous cigar that Bill Clinton and Monica shared came from here.
Restaurant staff was very helpful and friendly.
Wine cellar and location, very colonial
True to it’s history and values
Felt like we were living in our own plantation home.. lovely to sit in lounges and by the pool.
The restaurant is outstanding
Our room was very large and it was nice to sit out on the veranda
Staff kept everywhere very clean
Lovely piano playing
Very helpful, pleasant staff
Possibly the most authentic historical feel of The Bahamas, and you get to live and relax there, not just a museum.
The pool has the most opulent “private pool” feel my wife and I have ever experienced.
The wine cellar has to be seen to fully understand the scale, breadth and depth of what is clearly a passion that goes beyond economics.
This is one of those places that could probably never be recreated, but let’s celebrate they are here right now.
With respect and thanks to Mr. Garzoli, family and team lead by the commendably professional “Derek”.
Nice house with lot of history
The dinner service and food was excellent. The room was spacious and pretty.
Food was great! And the esthetic of the hotel was beautiful. I loved the old school feel, it was like I was transported to the 1950s. The room was comfortable and air conditioning worked amazing.
Location is what we needed so excellent
Breakfast was fine
