Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to A Stone’s Throw Away, you immediately get why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something intimate about the scale here that the mega-resorts just can’t match. The property sits tucked away on Tropical Gardens Road, and honestly, the name couldn’t be more fitting. You’re literally a stone’s throw from Cable Beach, but far enough back that you escape the crowds and noise. The four-star rating feels spot-on; it’s polished without being stuffy, comfortable without trying too hard to impress.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the location — you get the best of both worlds. West Bay Street runs right nearby, so you’ve got easy access to the main strip with all the restaurants and shops, but you’re not dealing with the constant traffic noise. Cable Beach is maybe a two-minute walk, and I mean an actual two minutes, not hotel brochure time. The free parking is clutch if you’re planning to rent a car and explore Nassau properly. You know what’s nice? You can actually walk to decent restaurants for dinner instead of being trapped at some remote resort.
The Rooms
The rooms have that relaxed Caribbean vibe without going overboard on the tropical theme — think clean lines with pops of color rather than bamboo everything. What struck me most was how quiet it stays, even with West Bay Street nearby. The air conditioning actually works (not always a given in the Bahamas), and there’s enough space that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. The bathrooms are well-maintained, though nothing fancy — just solid, functional spaces that do what they need to do.
Breakfast & Amenities
The continental breakfast gets the job done — fresh fruit, pastries, coffee that’s actually drinkable. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll fuel you up for a day at the beach without breaking the bank. I appreciate that they keep it simple rather than trying to do too much and failing. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re sorted, which makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Little touches like helping arrange transportation or giving solid restaurant recommendations show they actually know the area.
Why Guests Love It
Look, A Stone’s Throw Away isn’t trying to be the flashiest place in Nassau, and that’s exactly why it works so well for couples. You get that intimate, boutique feel with the convenience of being right in the action. The 8.0 location rating from recent guests tells the real story — people consistently love where this place sits. It’s close enough to everything that matters but far enough away that you can actually relax. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in one of the better spots on the island, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Nassau around Sandyport for marina cafés, seafood shacks, and pastel boardwalks.

Guest Reviews
The room was perfectly simple and exquisite. The view was amazing from any direction and the staff was extremely kind and helpful.
We absolutely loved ASTA, which is, happily, far away from the massive hotels in downtown Nassau. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and with a balcony overlooking the lush tropical gardens and small pool. The water view from the main deck is stunning, with a sweet beach within a few minutes’ walk. Loved the onsite Indian food, which is served on the main deck, upon request. We ate there 3 times!
The staff could not have been more friendly. They were always available to assist with moving the luggage up and down the stairs. The views are lovely. Dinner was delicious.
The view
We loved the location, away from Nassau, but totally accessible via bus or taxi.
Beaches close by, Love Beach, Jaws Beach, Johnston's Beach were great for us as we didn't fancy all the fuzz from the 100's of tourist coming off the cruise ships daily.
John, Marcy and RJ were all great. They did everything to help and make our stay comfortable.
The garden area was great to chill out and the rock pool was so nice to jump in any time of day or night.
The terrace overlooking the beach was always clean and accessible, the breakfasts were simple, yet healthy and the Indian food served at the restaurant was great.
I would definitely recommend staying there if you don't mind being away from the centre or for a short stopover.
Out of the hustle and bustle of downtown but still close enough to drive there the staff was awesome the room was nice had a great view from the balconies the property was beautiful
The view is beautiful. The pool area was very pretty and quiet. The balconies attached to the rooms are very large. Overall it’s a charming hotel with historical charm. Lots of stairs though.
Top location for a short stay near the airport (5min taxi ride for 25 Dollar). Very nice manager who upgraded us to a beautiful room during our second stay at the end of our trip. We also liked the Indian food in the evening. Breakfast is included, however there is only a very small breakfast selection.
This hotel is full of character, it's very Bahamian. Lovely views over the water (although you are not directly next to the ocean). I'm not sure it's a hotel that you would want to stay for two weeks but for a short stay/layover it's very good value for money and the staff are all charming.
View was great , location to restaurant, close to airport good stop over. Manager was great in upgrading room for us
