Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, A Stone’s Throw Away caught me off guard in the best possible way. You know how sometimes hotel names sound a bit cheesy? Well, this one actually makes perfect sense once you’re there — you’re literally a stone’s throw from Cable Beach, and the whole vibe feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special that’s not trying too hard to impress. The property sits tucked away on Tropical Gardens Road, which sounds fancy but is really just this quiet residential street that feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist zone.
Location That Actually Works
I mean, Nassau can be overwhelming with all the cruise ship crowds, but this spot gives you the perfect escape hatch. You’re close enough to West Bay Street that you can walk to the action — Cable Beach is right there, and Paradise Island is maybe a 10-minute drive. But here’s what I loved: when you want to retreat from all that, you actually can. The Tropical Gardens area has this residential feel where you’ll see locals going about their day, which honestly made the whole experience feel more authentic than staying right in the thick of things.
The Room Experience
The room setup here is pretty smart — it’s a four-star place that doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not, but everything works well. My space was clean and comfortable, with that tropical-but-not-tacky decor that actually lets you relax. The air conditioning was solid (crucial in the Bahamas, trust me), and I appreciated having enough space to spread out a bit. Nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes you just want a place that handles the basics really well, and this delivers on that front.
Breakfast and Practical Stuff
The continental breakfast was better than expected — fresh fruit, decent coffee, and enough variety to get your day started right. What really won me over though was the free parking situation. If you’re renting a car to explore the island (which I’d recommend), this is actually a huge deal since parking in Nassau can be a nightmare and expensive. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions — they had good recommendations for local spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.
Why Guests Love It
Look, couples especially seem to get what this place is about — there’s something about the quieter location that just works for a romantic getaway. You’re not dealing with families running around the pool at 7 AM, but you’re also not stuck in the middle of nowhere. It’s that sweet spot where you can have both the peaceful moments and easy access to everything Nassau offers. The recent guest ratings make sense to me — it’s the kind of place that might not blow you away at first glance, but by the end of your stay, you’re already thinking about coming back.

Guest Reviews
The room was perfectly simple and exquisite. The view was amazing from any direction and the staff was extremely kind and helpful.
We absolutely loved ASTA, which is, happily, far away from the massive hotels in downtown Nassau. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and with a balcony overlooking the lush tropical gardens and small pool. The water view from the main deck is stunning, with a sweet beach within a few minutes’ walk. Loved the onsite Indian food, which is served on the main deck, upon request. We ate there 3 times!
The staff could not have been more friendly. They were always available to assist with moving the luggage up and down the stairs. The views are lovely. Dinner was delicious.
The view
We loved the location, away from Nassau, but totally accessible via bus or taxi.
Beaches close by, Love Beach, Jaws Beach, Johnston's Beach were great for us as we didn't fancy all the fuzz from the 100's of tourist coming off the cruise ships daily.
John, Marcy and RJ were all great. They did everything to help and make our stay comfortable.
The garden area was great to chill out and the rock pool was so nice to jump in any time of day or night.
The terrace overlooking the beach was always clean and accessible, the breakfasts were simple, yet healthy and the Indian food served at the restaurant was great.
I would definitely recommend staying there if you don't mind being away from the centre or for a short stopover.
Out of the hustle and bustle of downtown but still close enough to drive there the staff was awesome the room was nice had a great view from the balconies the property was beautiful
The view is beautiful. The pool area was very pretty and quiet. The balconies attached to the rooms are very large. Overall it’s a charming hotel with historical charm. Lots of stairs though.
Top location for a short stay near the airport (5min taxi ride for 25 Dollar). Very nice manager who upgraded us to a beautiful room during our second stay at the end of our trip. We also liked the Indian food in the evening. Breakfast is included, however there is only a very small breakfast selection.
This hotel is full of character, it's very Bahamian. Lovely views over the water (although you are not directly next to the ocean). I'm not sure it's a hotel that you would want to stay for two weeks but for a short stay/layover it's very good value for money and the staff are all charming.
View was great , location to restaurant, close to airport good stop over. Manager was great in upgrading room for us
